There's lots to say, but no real time to post a real diary. I'm typing this on my laptop while pinned down on the bed by a five week old who feels that sleeping on me is more comfortable than sleeping on her co-sleeper.

You're a very lucky guy, I think. Though I'm not convinced that baby orangutans aren't better. ;)

Usually it seems that she just has to make herself more comfortable, and the headbanging is part of that.

If you ever decide that you want one of your own, talk to me first. For every moment of cuteness and light, there are ten moments of screaming and shit flowing out of her anus like brown toothpaste while I am already in the midst of changing her diaper.

but frequent infusion of other peoples' kids is sufficient to squash the urge.

Happy memories of being up in the middle of the night with the bub on your chest and watching really bad TV. The Olympics were good because you got to see all the stuff they bdidn't trelevise in normal viewing hours.

My kids were the same way. by greyrat (4.00 / 1) #17 Mon Jun 18, 2007 at 08:00:11 AM EST
It's kind of like MNS's 'covered in puppies' thing. Don't worry, she'll grow out of it, and you'll be bummed. BTW, my daughter is 13 and is now insisting on wearing bikinis -- one of which I even picked out for her. Do you have any recommendations for a light, short barrel, pistol grip shotgun I can get before she starts dating?

She's 13 and not dating? Ummm. She's dating, you just don't know about it. It's "going to the mall with friends" or similar...

Negative. Negative. Boys are still 'icky' by greyrat (2.00 / 0) #21 Mon Jun 18, 2007 at 10:24:50 AM EST
at the moment. I'm more worried about next school year. After that, she'll go to a girl's high school... AND I'LL BE EVEN MORE WORRIED. There's always a boy's school just down the street. Mixers, semi-formals, formals. I shudder to think...

But shotguns are classic! by greyrat (4.00 / 1) #24 Mon Jun 18, 2007 at 01:42:49 PM EST
"She'll be ready in a minute. Come here son. Sit down by me." Start polishing shot gun barrel. "So, what are your intentions son?" Break barrels and sight through them -- at the boy. "When do you expect to have her home?" Receive time estimate from boy and draw cleaning rag through both barrels. "I'm sorry did I hear you correctly? When?" Drop a clearly marked small buckshot shell and a full slug into respective barrels and wait for an amended time estimate of 10:00 PM or earlier from boy "That sounds about right"...

How sweet is this...? by littlestar (4.00 / 1) #26 Tue Jun 19, 2007 at 09:09:38 AM EST
WAY sweet. What a beautiful little girl, she looks comfortable on you. I hope you enjoyed your first daddy's day squishing your little monkey.

They become more orangatany as they get older. Sebaby climbs and clings like a little monkey... it's not hard to see the evolution.
