News roundup.
The AFP reports that NY Times says that revampled US interrogation policies are modeled after Korean war era Chinese tactics. I suppose if all one wants is a pile of confessions, regardless of their truth value, this is a good approach. On the other hand, I can't imagine that the art of interrogation hasn't advanced since the fifties. I suspect better results would have been had with an FBI style interrogation that spent more time communicating with the prisoners and getting into their heads.
Sometimes I wonder if John McCain speaks English. Saying that someone is a hero but that having done X doesn't qualify that same person for job Y doesn't sound like `denigrating' X or questioning that person's patriotism to me. If McCain didn't have almost 10 years on Clark, I suggest they pull a steel cage, no holds barred, one pin fall wrestling match to settle the matter.
Memberships to porn sites up 20% or so since the Bush economic stimulus checks started hitting the street. I don't know if that's what the Bush '43 administration intended for a `stimulus package.'
